TiEcon Dealflow: Greg Chapell Pitches Softball Cricket League

At the dealflow session of TiEcon Delhi 2008, eight shortlisted companies pitched their ideas to a total of 37 investors. Those present included 17 investors from Indian Angel Network and some venture capital funds such as Clearstone, SIDBI Venture Capital, Ojas Ventures, Blue Run Ventures and DFJ. The companies who pitched their idea were from areas such as robotics, logistics and others. Also, former Indian cricket team coach Greg Chapell pitched his idea of a softball cricket league.

SBCL Brand of Cricket - Former India cricket coach and Australian cricketer pitched his idea of softball (or tennis ball) brand of cricket. Thought details are not known, given the success of IPL it can turn out to be a moneyspinner. Some of the investors have already showed interest in this. There is already a softball league in the US.

Amdale Software Technologies - A computer telephony integration company which owns a product called PowerConnect.  A 10 year old company, it's business model is based on software license fees, which Amdale charges when the solution is in commercial use at the end customer.

Growdiesel Consortium - A cleantech firm which is a coalition of farmers, scientists, and entrepreneurs who are partners in a value chain to manufacture and consume biodiesel. The firm produces bio-based diesel alternative fuels and fuel-additives. 

- A multi-media streaming company that converges mobile and web technologies. AirChord automatically streams multimedia content including, audio, video, TV and radio channels to any mobile phone.

Robhatah Robotic Solutions - The Singapore-based robotics company has raised angel investment from members of Indian Angel Network and now seems to be looking for first round of VC funding. Robhatah is a robotic technology consulting and consumer product manufacturing company, which identifies markets for robotic applications and subsequently develops and implements technology for them.

Pratyaya Consulting Pvt. Ltd - The firm is involved in designing and delivering IT-enabled business solutions that help companies in business processes, market offerings, or business models to boost value and impact for the enterprise, customers, or partners. Pratyaya specialises in logistics space.

Infospectrum - The company provides technology, software engineering, technical products and related consulting services to customers and has clients like NIIT, Anna University, Satyam Computer Services. It is also involved in the broadband and internet protocol television (IPTV).

SigmaIP - A company in the telecom space.
