Simon Cooper, MD, Marriott International Asia Pacific on why he is still bullish about India despite regulatory hurdles

Marriott International, which operates more than 3,800 properties globally, is one of the oldest and most respected hotel brands in the world. In India, the company operates 23 properties under its belt, making it the fifth-largest hotel chain. It also is the first company to launch a hotel at Delhi Aerocity, the upcoming hospitality district in the capital.

In an exclusive interview with VCCircle, Simon Cooper – president and managing director, Marriott International Asia Pacific and Rajiv Menon, area vice president South Asia, discusses India’s importance in company’s overall Asia Pacific portfolio. They also speak about regulatory hurdles of running hotels in the country, their expansion plans, benefits of the recent infrastructure status given to the industry and hotel owners’ expectations.
