Test preparation centre Allen Career Institute on Tuesday marked its foray into online edtech space with the roll out of its digital arm, Allen Digital Pvt. Ltd.

The Bodhi Tree-backed coaching firm in a statement said students leveraging their online coaching mode can personalise their learning modules to suit their academic and career goals. Besides, they can also plan and modify their study plan at the topic level.

Allen’s announcement comes at a time when most of the edtech firms in India are eyeing a slice of the offline coaching industry.

Edtech firms and coaching institutions promise to double or triple teacher salaries, and sign five-year contracts. Some are even ready to pay three years’ salary in advance to poach talent.

So, a scramble for experienced teachers has broken out in cities like Kota, Delhi and Hyderabad.

Meanwhile, Allen Digital will enable students throughout their preparation by providing mentor support, online and offline support, career counselling and psychological counselling. Along with the flagship courses for IIT-JEE and NEET preparation, Allen will also provide a curated range of non-science courses in short-term, long-term, workshops, and crash course formats, it added in the statement.

“Over the past three decades, Allen has emerged as the top destination for competitive examination preparations and has been continuously producing top results in these exams. Our proven pedagogy has held us in good stead with several students and parents approaching our centres in Kota and other locations year after year.

In the current environment where options are plenty, but pedagogy has been questionable, we felt the need to extend our services to more students who are not in a position to relocate to avail our services,” said Anand Maheshwari, Managing Director, Allen Digital Pvt. Ltd.

“Building on our institution’s core values, Allen Digital is dedicated to provide the best by offering academic excellence poured from the expert faculty and proven pedagogy on the state-of-art platform in order to bring the best results for our students,” said Pankaj Agarwal, vice president, Allen Career Institute.

Last month, Bodhi Tree Systems, the platform backed by James Murdoch and former broadcast executive Uday Shankar, invested $600 million in Allen Career Institute.

With the launch of its digital arm, Allen is eying to expand to 40 cities across India, it said.
